The largest national museum of history in Japan, it conducts general research into the history and culture of Japan and displays related exhibits. On its expansive grounds, it exhibits a large amount of historical material from prehistoric and ancient times to present day organized into various themes.

This saké brewery has a history of over 300 years, and tours of the brewery are available during certain seasons. Kinoene omoya, which serves Nijushi-sekki cuisine, is located on the premises in a renovated 300-year-old "main house" that has been lived in by the heads of the Iinuma family for generations. Kinoene Magariya is directly managed by the brewery and handles rarely seen Koshi products. As fun activities for visitors, Kinoene Farm operates a blueberry garden, and at Kinoene SAKE CAMP, visitors can stay overnight while enjoying saké in the natural setting where Kinoene was created.
